CORONAVIRUS SPAIN: Self-employed, forced to close due to state of alarm, to get social security payment relief and financial aid

Spain’s Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration has issued a statement to deny that it will modify measures of financial aid that were approved in the last Council of Ministers meeting to dispel rumours in the media and on social networks.

The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration has said it wants to make clear:

1. All the freelancers (autonomous) forced to close due to the state of alarm or who have suffered a fall in income of 75 per cent are entitled to assistance

2. The self-employed in this situation will be exempt from paying Social Security contributions and, in addition, will receive an allocation equivalent to 70 per cent of the regulatory base, which will mean a minimum of €661 for those who have had to close their business or have lost 75 per cent of their turnover.

3. The false news and many hoaxes were trying to generate uncertainty among the self-employed  but any doubts can be allayed on the official websites of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration

4. The Government continues to work on far-reaching measures, such as this extraordinary assistance, to help those who are experiencing difficulties.
