CORONAVIRUS CRISIS: Junta de Andalucia offers ITV (MOT) testing centres for drive-through virus screening tests

The Andalucian autonomous region government in southern Spain has made its network of  ITV Vehicle Technical Inspection (MOT) stations available to the health authorities throughout the region to carry out rapid tests for the detection of the coronavirus COVID-19, so that those who need to undergo one of these tests can get it done without leaving their vehicle.

The regional Government has contacted the authorities in all the provinces in order to obtain the necessary permissions so that the facilities can host the tests, whose prime objective at the moment is to diagnose health personnel and members of the State security forces with symptoms of being infected by the virus.

The Government Subdelegation in Granada has already authorised the opening of the Peligros ITV station for this purpose, and it will be the first to operate in Andalucia, but the intention of the Junta is to extend this measure to the eight provinces, so that there is at least one ITV service point enabled in each one.

Civil Protection volunteers will be in charge of organising both the entrance of traffic to the station and the circulation within the premises. The hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., including Saturdays and Sundays.

The health authorities and Civil Protection staff will be supported by VEIASA workers who, on a voluntary basis, have accepted this collaboration.
