Secret Serranía is sponsoring a series of quizzes throughout the area. The first edition of these bilingual quizzes will be held in the north of the Serranía on Wednesday, October 21 at the Hotel Palacete de Mañara in Montejaque. Start time is 8.00 pm sharp.
With all questions asked in both English and Spanish the quiz is aimed at locals and foreigners alike. There will be ten rounds of ten questions, including a picture round and a music round. Teams will also have a joker which they can play on any round and they double their score for that round.
The quizmaster is Paul Whitelock, one of our bloggers here at Secret Serranía. Paul says: “I’ve put together a set of questions which both local people and foreigners, residents and visitors alike, should be able to answer. It should be an enjoyable evening.” He adds that mixed teams, ie Spanish and English-speaking together, might be a good idea.
Hotel owner, Álvaro Gutiérrez, is offering a first prize of a night’s stay with breakfast in the hotel for the foursome with the highest score at the end of the evening, and a second prize of a dinner for four in the hotel’s restaurant, Entre Ascuas, for the runners-up. “I think this a great idea to bring local people together on a cold autumn night for a bit of fun and something to eat and drink. I think it should be very successful”, Álvaro told Secret Serranía.
Álvaro is also providing something to eat for the halftime break. The kitchen will be open if players want to order tapas, raciones or from the menu.
The cost per person is just 5€. This will go towards the cost of the prizes and the halftime food offer from the hotel.
Because of the Covid-19 restrictions the attendance has to be limited to ten tables of four per team. So if you want to go you need to reserve in advance. First come first served. Contact either Paul on 636 52 75 16.
If the quiz is a success it will be repeated in early November in the south of the Serranía.
