New targets for flu vaccinations in Spain given possible coexistence of COVID-19 this winter

Given a possible coexistence of influenza viruses and COVID-19  during the winter of 2020-2021, Spain’s national government and the autonomous communities have agreed on new objectives in order to protect the most vulnerable.

They aim to achieve at least 75 per cent coverage in people over 65 and health workers; and 60 per cent in pregnant women and people with at-risk conditions.

The vaccination campaign will be carried out in a coordinated manner in all the Autonomous Communities and will begin in the first half of October.
