For many people the current COVID-19 crisis is an incredibly difficult time. Being confined indoors with a lack of social contact for long periods is not easy. You may have health or financial worries, or be concerned about a friend or relative, who you aren’t able to visit and you know is struggling, particularly if they have a history of depression.
Don’t suffer in silence
Samaritans in Spain is available by telephone or email to support any English-speaker across Spain, who is experiencing emotional problems of any kind. Whilst their drop-in centre is currently closed, their team or listeners continue to answer calls and provide a remote service.

Samaritans in Spain say, “We want you to feel safe while talking to us, so that you are comfortable to tell us how you are really feeling. That’s why you can talk to us in the strictest of confidence; you don’t even have to disclose your name if you don’t want to.”
The organisation is operated by a group of volunteers. It all started in September 2005 and culminated in the launch of the Costa Blanca Samaritans service in Spain in July 2008. Thanks to the continued generosity of their wonderful supporters and volunteers, it is their intention to continue to expand and develop the service they offer. Very much based on the established model, which has been in operation in the UK since 1953, they have had the support of Samaritans UK throughout the time they have worked to establish themselves in Spain.
The main office, drop-in centre and charity shop are based in the Punta Marina Commercial Centre on the Costa Blanca. But they also have satellite teams in Madrid, La Marina, Sotogrande (Costa del Sol) and Calpe.
