Seventy municipalities in Malaga province have inventory of roads for public use, totaling 7,277 kilometres

The Diputación de Málaga has delivered to 12 municipalities its inventories of roads for public use, which allows them to have detailed information both of those of municipal ownership and those of others administrations and even private ones.

Seventy municipalities in the province already have this type of inventory, which helps them manage and operate their public use roads. In total, 3,906 roads have already been inventoried, with a combined length of 7,277.6 kilometres.

The latest towns that have received their inventory are Almogía, Álora, Arriate, Benahavís, Canillas de Albaida, Carratraca, Casarabonela, Jubrique, Serrato, Tolox, Valle de Abdalajís and Yunquera.

And during this year and next the studies of another 24 municipalities will be completed.

The deputy of Development and Infrastructure, Francisco Oblaré, stressed that these roads are very important for the mobility of neighbours and even for the design of the Viable Plan, launched by the Diputación de Málaga to improve communications in the interior from the province.

Likewise, he has explained the work carried out by the Territorial Information service of the Malaga Provincial Council, which is very useful for the municipalities that have proof of the current state in which the communication channels of their property are located, while recording is essential that each municipality approves the inventory of municipal roads taking into account that it must have a public exposure period. In addition, municipal ownership roads must be registered in the Cadastre and, subsequently, registered in the Land Registry.

Each inventory offers, in digital form, plans of each road specifying, for example, the type of surface, the length and width and its coordinates. And it is complemented by a viewer/editor app that can be used by municipal technicians to edit and keep the inventory updated.

The inventories are carried out based on the study of historical documentation of the National Geographic Institute, cadastral plans of different dates together with meetings with municipal officials and field visits to compare the information and document the current state of the sections that make up the roads.
