112 Andalucia handles 335 incidents in twelve hours due to heavy rain in Malaga province

Emergencies 112 Andalucia has coordinated a total of 335 incidents due to the heavy rainfall recorded in the province of Malaga between 00.00 and 12.00 today, according to the service.

The Civil Protection service of Alhaurín de la Torre has also reported difficulties reaching the people in the Santa Ana area.

The main A-7  coastal road was closed to traffic for a while at kilometre 183 (in the direction of Cádiz), as it passes through Marbella; and the A-387 between kilometres 3 and 6, near Alhaurín El Grande by sheets of ice. The same was also affected by landslides between kilometres 8 and 9.

Emergency services remind drivers that it is advisable to consult the official page of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) before taking to the roads.

The Emergency Plan for Flood Risk (PERI) is still activated, in its provincial phase, situation 1 and the PEM (Municipal Emergency Plans) of Malaga, Alhaurín de la Torre, Cártama, Coín and Fuengirola are also active.

Weather warnings

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) maintains the orange warning for heavy rain in the Sol and Guadalhorce regions and in the Axarquía until 6:00 pm today. In the province of Granada, the orange warning for rains on the coast (until 8:00 p.m.), yellow for rains in the same area (until the same time) and for snowfall in Guadix and Baza (until 6:00 p.m.) are also in force.

The General Director of Emergencies, Agustín Muñoz, is in the town of Algeciras in Cadiz, where troops from the Emergency Group of Andalucia (GREA), Civil Protection of Cádiz and the Group of Psychological Intervention in Emergencies and Disasters (GIPED) to provide support to the families of the crew of the missing fishing boat.
