112 Andalucia coordinates 1,838 incidents during New Year’s Eve and early New Year’s Day hours

The 112 Andalucia emergency control centre has coordinated a total of 1,838 incidents during New Year’s Eve celebrations and the first hours of New Year, between 3:00 p.m. on the 31st day of December 2019 and 06:00 hours on January 1, 2020, which represents an 11.7 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year.

The most frequent emergencies recorded in these two days by the single European telephone service have been health care, with a total of 775 calls, and cases related to citizen security (475). Fires (174) were the third most common type of event, followed by traffic incidents (101) and traffic accidents (80).

By province, Sevilla had the highest number of emergencies, with a total of 519, followed by Malaga (349), Cádiz (245) and Granada (202). Enjoying a quieter New Year’s Eve were Córdoba (162), Almería (144) Huelva (110) and Jaén (105).

The busiest period was from 4:00  a.m. to 5:00 a.m. in the morning, when they dealt with a peak of  175 incidents in one hour.
